Permanent Residency Pathway for Hong Kong Residents

In June 2021, Canada launched two new pathways to permanent residence for Hong Kong residents in Canada, providing eligible Hong Kong residents with more options and lowering the bar for immigration. By studying or working in Canada, Hong Kong residents will be able to build up their Canadian experience and integrate easily into the Canadian society. 

Exclusive visa access for Hong Kong residents with no quota limits
No age limit or investment requirement
Spouse can apply for a Canada open work permit after partner obtains a student visa, so the whole family can access quality education and healthcare
Free to choose the province of your choice without any restrictions
Application

Eligibility    

  • Stream A:
    • Age: No restriction  
    • Education: Graduated from a post-secondary designated learning institution in Canada within 3 years prior to applying for permanent residence  
      • Recognized courses include :
        • A degree ;
        •  diploma for completion of a program that is at least 2 years in length;
        • A graduate or post-graduate diploma, certificate or credential that is at least 1 year in length; (the completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma as a prerequisite, and the post-secondary degree or diploma must have been obtained no more than 5 years before the commencement of the graduate or post-graduate program) 
    • Work experience: No requirement  
    • Language: English or French with a level of proficiency of at least CLB 5  
    • Proof of funds: Have sufficient fund to support you and your family after you arrive in Canada

 

  • Stream B :
    • Age: No restriction  
    • Education: Completion of a course of study at a post-secondary designated learning institution in Canada or abroad within 5 years prior to applying for permanent residence, if the diploma, certificate or credential is issued abroad it will also be subject to an equivalency assessment 
      • Recognized courses include :
        • A degree;
        • A diploma for completion of a program that is at least 2 years in length;
        • A graduate or post-graduate diploma, certificate or credential that is at least 1 year in length; (the completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma as a prerequisite, and the post-secondary degree or diploma must have been obtained no more than 5 years before the commencement of the graduate or post-graduate program) ;
    • Work experience: At least 1 year of full-time work experience in Canada, or a total of at least 1560 hours of part-time work experience within the 3 years prior to applying for permanent residence  
    • Language: English or French with a level of proficiency of at least CLB 5 
    • Proof of funds: Have sufficient fund to support you and your family after you arrive in Canada

Accompanying Family Members:

  • Your spouse or common-law partner, and  
  • Your dependent children under 22 years old
