New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program – Business Immigration Stream

New Brunswick is one of the four provinces located on the Atlantic coast. In order to attract more investors and business immigrants, On January 13 2021, the mandatory requirements and investment amounts of the New Brunswick entrepreneur stream are lower compared to those of the previous.

Low investment threshold with a minimum requirement of CAD 150,000
Eligibility is relatively easy to meet
Suitable for senior managers and SME business owners
This stream will provide a pathway to Permanent Residence that begins with a Temporary Work Permit
Dependent children are able to enjoy free education in the local public school

Eligibility

Personal Requirements 

  • Age: 21-59 
  • Net Asset: Have a net worth of at least CAD 500,000, which may include spouse’s assets
  • Management Experience: Achieved in the past 5 years
    • At least 3 years of business management experience (51% or more ownership in business), or
    • At least 3 years of senior management experience (supervising at least 2 full-time employees)
  • Education: Have at least high school diploma
  • Language: Meet the minimum requirement of CLB 5 in English or French
  • Scoring: Obtain at least 65 out of 100 points. EOI system is required. 
  • Have an eligible connection to New Brunswick (Exploratory visit of 5 business days is considered as an eligible connection) 

Investment Requirements 

  • Invest at least CAD 150,000 to establish an eligible new business or purchase and improve an existing business in NB. Actively participates in day-to-day operations and management of the company in NB and creates at least one full-time position for permanent residents or citizens of Canada.
  • If purchasing an existing business, the business must have been operated by the current owner for at least 3 years.
  • Own at least 1/3 of the business
  • Operate the business for a minimum of 12 consecutive months
  • Principal applicants must demonstrate NB residence for at least 75% of the time.

1. Is it a mandatory requirement to make an exploratory visit to New Brunswick?

No, it is not a mandatory requirement; however, prior to submitting an EOI, candidates must demonstrate at least one eligible connection to New Brunswick, in which an exploratory visit of 5 business days is considered as an eligible connection.

 

2. How do I need to prove my visit to New Brunswick?

If you participate in an exploratory visit, you must submit an Exploratory Visit Report with your application.

 

3. What else can be considered as an eligible connection to New Brunswick?

For example, 1 year of full-time study at a post-secondary institution in New Brunswick, or 6 months of full-time skilled work experience in New Brunswick, or have family members who are permanent residents or citizens of Canada living in New Brunswick for at least 1 year.
